Use this checklist for the final walkthrough with the owner before project acceptance and final payment.

Pre-Walkthrough Preparation​

Documentation Ready​

  • Punch list complete - All items resolved
  • Warranties collected - All product warranties
  • Manuals ready - O&M manuals, as-builts
  • Keys available - All keys, access codes
  • Photos organized - Before/after photos
  • Closeout documents - All paperwork ready

During Walkthrough​

General​

  • Clean - All areas clean, no debris
  • Complete - All work complete per plans
  • Functional - All systems operational
  • No damage - No damage to finishes

Systems​

  • Electrical - All outlets, switches, lights work
  • Plumbing - All fixtures work, no leaks
  • HVAC - Heating/cooling works
  • Fire safety - Alarms, extinguishers in place

Finishes​

  • Paint - Complete, consistent
  • Flooring - Complete, no damage
  • Trim - Installed, painted
  • Hardware - All hardware installed

Documentation​

  • Owner signs off - Final acceptance signed
  • Photos taken - Final condition photos
  • Issues noted - Any remaining items documented
  • Warranties provided - All warranties given
Final Walkthrough = Final Payment

A successful final walkthrough leads to final payment. Be prepared, professional, and responsive to owner concerns.
