✅ Daily Inspection Checklist

Use this checklist for daily site inspections. Catch issues early before they become problems.


When to Use

  • Daily - Morning walkthrough by superintendent
  • End of day - Final check before leaving site
  • After weather - Post-storm inspections
  • Before critical work - Pre-work safety check

General Site Conditions

Housekeeping

  • Walkways clear - No debris, materials blocking paths
  • Work areas clean - Debris removed, organized
  • Storage areas - Materials stored properly
  • Dumpsters - Not overflowing, lids closed
  • No tripping hazards - Cords, hoses, materials secured

Access & Egress

  • Exits clear - All exits accessible
  • Stairs safe - No damage, proper railings
  • Ladders secure - Properly secured, good condition
  • Walkways marked - Pedestrian routes clear

Safety Equipment

Fire Safety

  • Fire extinguishers - Accessible, charged, not blocked
  • No smoking - Smoking areas designated, enforced
  • Hot work permits - Permits current if hot work ongoing
  • Flammables stored - Properly stored, away from ignition

First Aid

  • First aid kit - Stocked, accessible
  • Emergency numbers - Posted prominently
  • AED available - If required, accessible

Fall Protection

  • Guardrails installed - At 6+ feet elevation
  • Personal fall arrest - Worn where required
  • Holes covered - All floor/roof openings covered
  • Ladders secure - Properly secured, good condition
  • Scaffolding - Guardrails, toeboards, access

Electrical Safety

  • GFCI protection - All temporary circuits protected
  • Cords in good condition - No cuts, exposed wires
  • Cords off ground - Not in water, mud
  • Proper routing - Not through doorways
  • Panels accessible - 36" clearance maintained

Equipment & Tools

Heavy Equipment

  • Operators certified - Only certified operators
  • Backup alarms - Working on all equipment
  • Lights working - All lights functional
  • Daily inspection - Inspection tags current

Hand & Power Tools

  • Guards in place - All guards installed
  • In good condition - No damage
  • Stored properly - Not left on ground
  • Ground fault protection - GFCI or double-insulated

Material Handling

  • Materials stored safely - Won't fall or collapse
  • Away from edges - Not near fall hazards
  • Secured - Materials secured from wind
  • Proper lifting - Workers using proper technique

Environmental

Weather Protection

  • Work protected - Weather protection if needed
  • Materials covered - Materials protected from weather
  • Drainage - Site draining properly
  • Erosion control - Erosion measures in place

Waste Management

  • Waste containers - Adequate containers available
  • Hazardous waste - Properly stored, labeled
  • Recycling - Recyclables separated if required

Documentation

  • Daily report - Completed and submitted
  • Photos taken - Progress photos documented
  • Issues noted - Problems documented
  • Visitors logged - Inspectors, visitors documented
