Heat illness progression
Stage 1
Heat Cramps
Muscle cramps from salt loss through sweating. Move to shade, drink water with electrolytes, and rest. Usually resolves quickly.
Stage 2
Heat Exhaustion
Heavy sweating, weakness, nausea, dizziness, headache. Move to shade immediately, cool with water and fans. Medical evaluation recommended.
Stage 3 โ€” Emergency
Heat Stroke
Core temperature above 104ยฐF, confusion, loss of consciousness, hot dry skin. Call 911 immediately. Cool aggressively. This is life-threatening.

Remember: Water, Rest, Shadeโ€‹

  • Water โ€” Drink every 15-20 minutes
  • Rest โ€” Take breaks in cool areas
  • Shade โ€” Use shaded areas for breaks

Know the Signsโ€‹

  • Heavy sweating
  • Weakness
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea

Heat Stroke โ€” EMERGENCYโ€‹

  • High body temperature (103ยฐF+)
  • Hot, red, dry skin
  • Confusion
  • Call 911 immediately
